Let me to bring yoga to you…
My yoga teaching style
My classes are designed to be challenging but also a lot of fun. I’m generally pretty energetic and enthusiastic when I teach, with plenty of demonstrations, assisting and encouragement going on. I also occasionally quote classic 80s and 90s films!
My Vinyasa Foundations classes at Pure Gym (8am Thursdays) are designed to help beginners find their feet (and hands, possibly heads too) and more experienced yogis to fine tune the core elements of their practice (maybe correct some bad habits). We take time to practice a few poses (asanas in Sanskrit) and transitions (including breath technique) before putting them together into sequences.
All my other classes are more typical vinyasa flows with a variety of asanas, co-ordinated with breathwork, to give a well-rounded work out of both body (strength and flexibility) and mind (control and focus). Anyone is welcome, regardless of experience or ability.
Private coaching enables you to fit yoga in with your busy schedule and gain a bit more personal guidance than you might normally receive in a class. I’m able to tailor classes specifically to your needs, which we will discuss beforehand.
Yoga is a fantastic counter to being seated at a desk all day (it can be neatly fitted into a lunch hour) and can complement other sporting training to help enhance performance (as I do with my athletics training). It’s not just about the physical movement of your body, but also mental clarity, calmness and focus. However, I do leave the more philosophical and spiritual yoga guidance for life to others who are more knowledgeable and experienced than me!
